Here in June, 1813, General John Vincent assembled troops that made the successful night attack on the invaders at Stoney Creek. From this point of vantage, in December, 1813, the force which retook Fort George and carried Fort Niagara by assault, began its march. On these heights stood the strong point of reserve and depot of arms for the defence of the Niagara Peninsula and support of the navy on Lake Ontario.

The map accompanying the plaque for Burlington Heights should show an area next to Dundurn Castle and near the Hamilton Cemetery - overlooking Hamilton Harbour - and not along Governor's Road in Dundas. Otherwise - thanks for this site! [Thanks. It's now fixed.]

Hi. I finally know where is Burlington Heights. The Battle of Stoney Creek is probably why we are still Canadian. While there were other battles (e.g. Beaver Dam), at no other time did the Americans assemble the same size force (about 6,000 men)to invade Upper Canada. The amazing thing is that the battle was won by a last minute bayonet charge by the British, which should have failed.
