In the early morning of December 19th, 1813, a force under Colonel John Murray, consisting of detachments of the 100th and 41st Regiments, Royal Scots, Royal Artillery and Canadian militia, embarked in bateaux at the foot of this ravine. Crossing silently to a point above Youngstown, New York, they attacked Fort Niagara killing or capturing its American garrison.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the information set out on this site. My 4x great grandfather served with the 26th regiment of foot in North America. He joined this regiment in 1782 and spent most of his time in North America. He married a girl he met from Lincoln, Ontario when he was stationed in the Garrison at Quebec. Would anyone know of another site that could confirm if this regiment ever Garrisoned at Fort Niagara between 1790-1795.
