Location
The City of Hamilton In Flamborough, at the bridge over the creek beside the old mill on the north side of Crooks Hollow Road. From the intersection of Highways 8 and 5 (Peter's Corners) follow Highway 8 east to West Flamborough then left onto Crooks Hollow Road.

Summary from the Ontario Heritage Foundation's website
Two economic factors encouraged James Crooks to construct a paper mill on Spencer Creek: the growing domestic market and the high tariff imposed on imported paper. The mill operated under various owners until it was destroyed by fire in 1875.
